Users review: This movie wanted to answer two questions: whether the fictional world of Metropolis still need Superman, and if Man of Steel, basically a very large boy scout can compete with the darkest heroes and anti-heroes dominate the silver screen today (like Batman and the heroes of the Marvel Universe). Therefore, the question for both worlds is, Do we still need Superman? After seeing the film, I'm happy to report that the answer is a resounding, Yes! Basically, this film pays tribute to that great first film in every single way. While some see this as myopically ripping off the first film or the laziness of the film, saw themselves as a tribute to a great movie, made us believe a man can fly (which they did everything that makes us love movies). Thus, it helps to see the film in context. So, if you loved the first movie, you'll almost certainly love this one.Much did for X-Men and X2, Singer injected with a history as intriguing subtext and emotional depth and extremely important topic that had what could only be another blockbuster summer filled with mindless action sequences into something much more. Singer made the most effective use of messianic motif that made the first film, and even though I'm not particularly religious person myself, Superman Mythos fits like a glove, because it basically is the character: a secular messiah.The Singer quality acting helped bring this ambitious vision, life. Brandon Routh filled with more than enough big shoes left by Christopher Reeve and Richard Donner, director of Superman: The Movie, with all my heart agree (as he said this in an interview with the BBC). Bosworth fittingly played the role of a woman who really moved on with their lives for her, because she wanted her husband goodbye and displayed so dismissed without really confusing and even bitterness rather than its vaunted return. Spacey actually outdid Hackman as Luthor, who has made a serious villain who just exuded hatred for the Man of Steel. Finally, Frank Langella and Sam Huntington roles filled perfectly Perry White and Jimmy Olsen, respectively.Still, viewers should know a few things before watching the film. Although the film itself does not make this clear, press releases makes it clear that Singer chose to ignore Superman 3 and 4 and instead focus on building a story that takes place after Superman I and II. Keep this in mind when you watch the film, and you will not feel lost.Also, try to watch the first two films before watching this one; such. This film speaks Superman: The Movie in every single way (and more subtle Superman II), and picking up on these referrals will increase; your experience.Finally, as I hinted before, do not expect a film jam packed with action sequences. Although the film certainly contains awe-inspiring special effects and more eye candy in the form of sequences of incredible action, the film seeks to make an emotional connection with the fans instead of just their titillating. Much like the first movie, the effects are understated wisely and thereby serve the story and not vice versa.
